When you are creating a thesis, look to the future and how technology will affect your field of study. Research the new technologies or methodology of research in your field. Analyze what the strengths and weaknesses are of those technologies and research methods. After analyzing them, conclude your research by predicting the level of influence and success they will have in the field while offering suggestions to improve them based on your own research.
For some fields of studies and industries, the key to success is looking to the past. As an example, in weather, finding a series of years that have the same weather patterns as the current year can help predict weather phenomena like hurricanes, floods and significant weather storms. In your thesis, research the history of your field of study, and analyze several different aspects of its history that can be used to aid the field moving into the future.
Interview your advisor and others in your fields to find out the biggest current problems in the field. If outdated technology is an issue in your field of study, propose types of equipment or technology that can be created to improve research and performance in your field. Don't stop at making suggestions, though. Analyze the amount of work and the costs associated with developing that technology. Design a presentation for your thesis that emphasizes why these costs are worthwhile to develop the technology or research in the field.
Contact the employers in your field of study, including your current employer if you are working in the field. Find out what information they would like to have researched. Researching the information that is needed by a current employer or potential employer can kill two birds with one stone. It can help you complete your Master's degree, and it can also give you a connection with a potential employer by sharing the thesis you complete for your degree with that current or potential employer.
