Meet the minimum requirements to administer the GRE. You must designate at least 15 Internet-connected computers and cache proxy that are no more than three years old per site for GRE testing. The computers used for administering GRE testing must run the Windows 2000 or XP operating system and have a minimum monitor size of 15 inches. Your site must also have the abilities to dedicate resources to testing and restrict other activities in the room during a six-hour period.
Apply for the Certified Test Administration Site (CTAS), which makes your facility approved by the Education Testing Services (ETS) to provide ETS-sponsored tests such as the GRE, by completing the online form. Fill in the requested information and submit the application online. Once you have submitted the form, you will be contacted within approximately 10 business days to find out if you are approved to administer the GRE exams. If you have any questions before then, you can contact ETS at [email protected] or 1-609-683-2030.
Perform a readiness check at least several days before each test administration to ensure everything will run smoothly on test day. Make sure computers are working and test materials are available.
Coordinate activities with the proctor. Verify GRE test takers' admission ticket and photo ID at the test center on test day. Assign GRE test takers a seat at individual computers. Provide scratch paper for computer-based tests. Have test takers sign the test log before and after the test session as well as any time they leave or enter the testing center. Resolve problems with computers during tests.
Write test Center Problem Reports (CPRs) for any irregularity in testing. Most of the reports concern a test taker's address changes or contact information spelling corrections.
