Figure out what you want to study at ARC. There are various programs of study such as English literature and natural resources. Check out the "Programs of Study" page from the ARC website (see Resources) or make an appointment with an advisor at the college.
Choose the correct application process for your situation. On the ARC website the "Applying for Admission" page will give you several options to apply. Choose whether you're entering college for the first time, transferring to another college, going back to ARC or still attending high school but getting started on your degree early. Other special circumstances that might apply include students with disabilities, international students or students who are veterans.
Follow the instructions for your particular situation that appear on the screen. You will likely need to fill out an application, unless you are a returning student. You can fill out an application and apply online. Applications are due by April 1 of each year. Questions should be directed to the eServices department: 916-484-8152.
Schedule to take appropriate assessment tests through the ARC Assessment Center and the Counseling Center for the college you're entering. For example, if you're planning to receive a degree in anthropology, then you will be taking the assessment tests through the Behavioral & Social Sciences college. The "Programs of Study" page can direct you to the individual departments.
Register for classes after you complete the assessment tests. An ARC counselor can help you register. An appointment can be made by calling 916-484-8572. You can also register yourself online by visiting the "Registration" page. Once you register, you will be officially enrolled in American River College.
