Kaplan College is a well-known online institute that allows high school graduates to further their education from their homes. This type of program is extremely useful for anyone who has major responsibilities at home, such as a full-time job or a family to care for, although anyone may enroll in the college as long as they meet a few minimum requirements. In addition to the popular online classes, Kaplan also maintains college campuses in 10 states, including California, Nevada, Arizona and Washington.
Kaplan College applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, including a General Education Development (GED) certificate or Home Study certificate. Like any other college, Kaplan College applicants are typically at least 18 years old. Some 17-year-olds may be accepted if they can prove that they have graduated from high school or its equivalent. Applicants over the age of 18 may apply to Kaplan even if they haven't obtained their high school diploma if they can demonstrate their ability to benefit (ATB) from attending Kaplan and can pass an entrance exam. Those younger than 18 must obtain their parents' permission before enrolling in Kaplan. Kaplan College offers Associate's and Bachelor's degrees, as well as certificates and diplomas for programs and coursework completed. Kaplan offers 22 different fields, many of which, such as HVAC Electrical Construction, may have prerequisites or exams one must pass before applying.
Aside from providing proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent, a Kaplan College candidate must complete an online self-assessment test and an informational interview, which is held over the phone.
