Do you need a doctorate in pediatrics?

A doctorate is not typically required for practicing pediatrics. The vast majority of pediatricians have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. These degrees require four years of medical school and three years of residency training in pediatrics.
