According to a 2019–2020 survey by the College Board, the average cost of attendance (COA) for a four-year public college was $26,820 for in-state students and $41,950 for out-of-state students. The COA includes tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation.
The average disposable income of domestic students is less than that of foreign students, $12,960 and $15,610, respectively. This difference may be due to several factors, including differences in socioeconomic status, financial aid packages, and work opportunities.
