Grants for Minority Women in Los Angeles, California

There are many grants available to minority women. Applicants can choose from a wide array of grants and scholarships, offered by charities, corporations, schools, local and state governments, non-profit organizations and public or private institutions. Students will find grants for particular areas of study and specific life situations of affiliations, merit-based scholarships for those that demonstrate academic mastery and need-based awards for the financially burdened. The United Negro College Fund and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund are particularly good resources for minority students.

    • The Ahmanson Foundation Scholarship is offered to a deserving minority student by the Ahmanson Foundation in partnership with the United Negro College Fund. Qualified applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and must attend an accredited Los Angeles, CA college or university. The award amount is between $1,000 and $4,000.

    Castle Rock Foundation Scholarship

    • The Castle Rock Foundation Scholarship is offered to an outstanding minority student by the Castle Rock Foundation in partnership with the United Negro College Fund. To qualify, you must be African-American, majoring in business of engineering and an accredited college or university and you must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The award amount is $3,600.

    HSF/ Procter & Gamble Company Scholarship

    • The HSF/ Procter & Gamble Company Scholarship is available to students of Latino heritage by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund in partnership with Procter and Gamble. Qualified applicants must be US citizens, have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be enrolled full-time at an approved college or university and be studying mathematics or the sciences. Applicants must be from a major United States Metropolitan Area such as Los Angeles. The award amount it $2,500.

    HSF/ General College Scholarship

    • The HSF/ General College Scholarship is available to deserving Hispanic students through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Qualified applicants must be US citizens of Hispanic heritage, must complete the FAFSA, be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The award amount is between $500 and $5,000.
