The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was established in 1929 by the Government of India. It is a national level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by Union Government of India. CBSE affiliates all Kendriya Vidyalayas, all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools and most of the schools approved by central government of India. There are about 20,299 schools in India and 211 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE.
Functions of CBSE:
* To conduct final examination of class 10th and 12th.
* To prepare academic programmes and courses of study for secondary school.
* To prescribe and publish textbooks.
* To conduct examination of national talent search and national sports talent contest etc.
* To provide various kinds of educational research and training.
