GED Trade Schools

General Educational Development is nationally accepted as the equivalent of a high school diploma. GED preparation programs are available at trade schools across the nation. The schools offer preparation courses to help students successfully pass the GED exam.
  1. Elgin Community College

    • Elgin Community College offers free adult secondary education and GED preparation classes. After students successfully complete one preparation class and the GED exam, they are awarded free tuition for a three credit hour in-district college class. Prior to taking the eight-week exam preparation course, students must take a four-week introduction to GED class. Students also have the option of taking the fast-track GED prep course, which lasts six weeks.

    Pennsylvania Commercial Business and Technical School

    • This GED preparation program is offered in conjunction with intermediate unit one to prepare students for the GED test. These adult basic and literacy education classes are offered free of charge. Students will undergo an assessment and receive instruction that is tailored to their needs.

    Gwinnett Technical College

    • Gwinnett Technical College offers GED preparation classes that prepare students to test in each of the five required topics on the test. In order for students to participate, they must attend an orientation. During orientation, students will take assessment tests to ensure they are placed in the appropriate classes. Both the orientation and classes are provided at no cost.

    Seattle Vocational Institute

    • Seattle Vocational Institute offers a self-paced GED preparation program. It's an open entry and exit program that combines traditional classroom instruction with individual and computer-assisted learning based on each student's need. The classes are offered quarterly for free. Students may enter the program at any time as long as space is available.
