Sanford-Brown offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in anesthesia technology, which is available at its Houston, Texas, campus. The program is designed to allow graduates to find work as an entry-level anesthesia technologist, whose job it is to assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists by preparing patients and equipment for procedures. There are three components to the program: lectures, labs, and clinical work. Following this, a final externship gives students hands-on experience. Courses and skills taught in the program include human anatomy and physiology, types of anesthesia, pharmacology, cardiac monitoring and emergency assistance. The Milwaukee Area Technical College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in anesthesia technology; students have the option of enrolling full-time or in a flexible part-time schedule. The latter allows those with busy schedules to complete the degree in a longer span of time, but allow the class schedules to fit around their own. The program teaches the concepts and clinical applications of anesthesia technology in an on-campus surgical suite, allowing students to learn techniques and skills before dealing with patients. Some of these skills include assistance with patient transport, patient preparation, interpretation of physiological information, and assisting with monitoring lines. During the clinical phase of the program, students will be assigned to nearby hospitals.

North Seattle Community College is a two-year public college that offers an anesthesia technical services certification for those already employed in the field. To take part in the program, students must have an appropriate medical professional certification, such as a paramedic certification, LPN license or medical assistant certification. They also must have at least 2,600 hours of anesthesia support assistance and have been employed as an anesthesia technologist. The entire program is online and consists of six courses: basic pharmacology, anesthesia-related anatomy and physiology, clinical monitoring, critical care procedures, anesthesia machines and technical skills.
Lectures are delivered via podcast and PowerPoint presentations, and cutting-edge simulation technology is employed to allow students to work from anywhere they have Internet access. In particular, this program is good for unlicensed professionals, as it is meant to prepare students to take the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians national certification exam.
