Created in 2001, Argosy University is an accredited school, comprised of four colleges and 19 campuses. The university offers an associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology, recognized by the NAACLS. Offered in Eagan, Minnesota, the mission of the program is to teach students to work as healthcare professionals, to communicate professionally with medical personnel and patients, and develop effective skills in laboratory analysis. The program includes 30 hours of general education and 45 hours of program-specific courses. Students have the option of a Track I or Track II curriculum outline, where they earn a degree in 24 and 16 months, respectively.

Keiser University in Florida grants an NAACLS- accredited associate’s degree in laboratory technician studies. It teaches proficiency in laboratory-testing procedures and prepares students for entry-level positions. To graduate, students must complete 85 credit hours. The curriculum includes courses in medical terminology, laboratory mathematics, hematology, microbiology and immunology.

Founded in 1961, Alleghany College of Maryland hosts a two-year medical laboratory tech program, accredited by the NAACLS. Once enrolled, students have the option of a traditional or a fast-track option. Students with a bachelor’s degree in biological science can opt for the fast track, accelerated option and earn an associate’s degree in a year. The program focuses on hematology, blood coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis and blood banking. Students who wish to broaden their expertise to environmental, epidemiological, industrial and research laboratories, in addition to the clinical laboratory, can enroll in the biotechnology option of the lab tech program.
