Equine Chiropractic Colleges

Chiropractic therapy is defined by Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic as "a health care discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery." A chiropractor manipulates a horse's body, generally the spine, to correct problems it may be experiencing. To become an equine chiropractor, you must already be licensed as a Doctor of Chiropractic; equine courses are offered as postgraduate studies. The American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) oversees the credentialing of equine chiropractors in the U.S. Within the association, the credentialing process is handled by the Animal Chiropractic Certification Commission. Before you can complete the AVCA-required certification process, you must complete a program recognized by the association.
