The University of British Columbia, founded in 1908, offers various study options within its Pharmacy program. University of Alberta, Edmonton, founded in 1908, provides significant variety in educational opportunities to its student body of more than 35,000 students. Those seeking study within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences department may pursue various graduate-level options, including doctoral. Students attend the university for no fewer than two years, and complete a thesis prior to the program's completion. Applicants must undergo an arduous process, initially submitting to a opening-round application, referred to as Preliminary Application. Students successfully passing this level will advance to deliberation by various professors. After a professor consents to serving as a student's mentor, the applicant then moves forward into the formal round for admission. Canadian residents may apply year-round, as the university provides three terms of entry. International students apply either June, September, or March, depending on the term in which they wish to commence studies. Coursework options include Applied Problems in Current Research, and Advanced Pharmakinetics, in addition to rotation-based options.
