Chamberlain College in Phoenix offers several nursing programs. Graduate and baccalaureate degrees are options offered at this college. There is also an online course available to registered nurses wishing to further their career; it allows RNs to earn their bachelor's degree in nursing or continue on to a master's degree. A new option introduced as a result of the nursing shortage prediction is the second degree BSN. This option is for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree in another field of study; they can convert their existing degree into a bachelor's degree in nursing on an accelerated program.
Mariposa Community Colleges in Phoenix consist of several campuses that offer programs of study in nursing. They offer a unique bilingual nursing program to increase the level of Spanish- and English-speaking registered nurses. The school only accepts 20 students to each cohort. Another program option is that of Nurse Assistant. This eight- to 12-week course allows the certified individual to work in a hospital setting "under the supervision of registered and practical nurses." In order to aid the Phoenix community, nursing students may join AmeriCorps' Project Ayuda ("Help" in Spanish) and earn money for their service, while still in school.
The College of Nursing at Arizona State University offers doctorate, master and baccalaureate degrees in the nursing field. One of the bachelor's degree options is for existing registered nurses to attain their BSN. The school's graduate programs offer a number of individual certifications such as geriatric or mental health nursing. Nursing students may complete their program at either the Downtown Phoenix or the Mayo Clinic campus.
In Flagstaff, Coconino Community College offers an Associate Degree program for nursing. The 75-credit-hour degree teaches the basic requirements for entry-level positions in hospital settings. The nursing program has entry requirements that differ from those of the other associate degree programs at the school. Courses include pharmacology and mental health nursing.
