The SMAE Institute offers online training as an FHP. The program is divided into 12 theory modules and 12 portfolio tasks. The 12 modules teach students about anatomy and physiology, the systems of the body that pertain to foot health, foot and nail conditions, treatments, and practice techniques when you have completed the program. The program also contains clinical training that provides students with hands-on experience using surgical tools, diagnosing and treating foot conditions, and providing foot care to specialized groups, such as diabetics, the elderly, and children.
Stonebridge Associated Colleges also offers online Foot Health Professional training. The program involves 12 theory modules, including the muscles of the legs and feet, blood and lymphatic circulation of the legs and feet, skin health, medical records, pathology, and business. Stonebridge offers two clinical training options. Students can choose a basic five-day training program or an advanced 11-day program. The five-day and 11-day programs both offer practical experience handling instruments, and practicing on clients. The advanced training program teaches students about neurovascular care, diabetic foot care, life support, first aid, CPR, biomechanics, and Health and Safety (HSE) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) training. The college also offers advanced training in reflexology, manicures and pedicures.
The College of Foot and Health Practitioners offers two programs: the career level program and the advanced diploma. Both programs consist of six modules. The career level course teaches students about anatomy, foot care, and the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. The advanced diploma extends upon the courses offered in the career level course. After finishing classes, students must complete an 11-day clinical training program. The College of Foot Health Practitioners also offer continued training in biomechanics and orthotics, lower limb massage, and treatment of verrucae. After completing this program, students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in podiatry.
The Open Study College offers a Foot Health Practitioner Advanced Diploma and a Foot Health Practitioner Level 4 program. Both programs require the student to complete 12 modules, but the Foot Health Practitioner Advanced Diploma involves 11 days of practical training, while the Foot Health Practitioner Level 4 program involves five days of practical training. The modules for both programs consist of anatomy and physiology, health records, pathology, and business practices. The Foot Health Practitioner Level 4 program's five-day practical training consists of instrument training and hands-on experience. The Advanced Diploma's 11 days of practical training includes the contents of the five-day practical training, plus neurovascular care, diabetic foot care, life support, first aid, CPR, biomechanics, and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) training. The school provides you with accommodations in Cornwall for the duration of your practical training.
