The Boston Language Institute is a diverse language school that has taught over 140 languages since it was founded in 1981. Portuguese is one of these languages. It is offered to both individuals and companies. There are five levels of Portuguese instruction that address both verbal and written communication in addition to a course in conversational Portuguese. There is also a doctorate program that allows students to master the language and Portuguese literature.
Within the Department of Modern Language at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, is a bachelor's program in Portuguese. Students have a choice of many classes in Portuguese as part of this major. Typical beginner, intermediate and advanced language classes are available in addition to courses that focus solely on grammar and writing Portuguese. Conversation classes are also available. More focused classes include Portuguese business language and Portuguese translation. A summer study abroad program in Brazil is available through the school, where students learn accelerated Portuguese, grammar and writing.
