How to Check If a College Is Accredited

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges and universities to meet certain criteria in order to provide quality education to students. To this end, colleges and universities receive accreditation from regional accrediting bodies and from professional organizations, who monitor the quality of career studies, such as allied health or culinary arts programs. Attending an accredited college or university allows you to receive financial aid and earn nationally recognized degrees, which could impact your ability to find a job upon graduation.
