How to Wear a Graduation Hat

Graduation ceremonies, whether for high school or college, are occasions with symbolism, traditions and even guidelines and stipulations. One aspect of the graduation ceremony that can be confusing is trying to figure out how to wear all of the graduation regalia, including the cap and tassel. The graduation hat is differently shaped and it can be hard to determine the proper placement of it on the head. But, with the right hairdo and proper guidelines, you can shine in your cap and gown.

Instructions

  Style your hair so that it is flat and smooth at the top, so the hat will fit on your head.

  Hold the cap with the pointed edge in the front and the gathered edge in back.

  Place the hat on top of your head. Do not slide it back to the crown of your head. The hat should be lying flat on top of your head and not pointing up.

  Slide bobby pins into your hair and over the sides of the cap if it's not staying in place.

  Loop the tassel onto the button on top of the cap and let it hang down on the right side. You will turn it to the left side at the end of the graduation ceremony.
