How to Write a College Integration Portfolio

A portfolio is a collection of examples of work completed by a college student. This portfolio is put together in order to give the student something to show future employers demonstrating skills, knowledge and abilities. Include general items that you would use for a job search, items such as a resume or curriculum vitae, certification or licensure paperwork, transcripts and an educational philosophy statement. Organize all of these items with a table of contents page.

    • 2

Include a variety of examples of lesson plans that incorporate integrating multiple subjects. Use sample lesson plans and syllabi that you have incorporated into prior teaching experience or student teaching if you are a new graduate. Include any pictures or interactions with students that you can. Make sure that these lessons display your ability to effectively integrate different subjects.

Provide professional references that speak to your credibility as an educator. These references need to come from professionals in the field that you have worked closely with. Ask these references to attest to your ability to integrate subjects in lesson plans and units, providing examples when able to and any positive outcomes they witnessed from the integrated lesson delivery.

Organize all items and place them in a professional binder or portfolio case. Reference the table of contents that you created and follow along with it exactly. Make sure that all items are edited with correct grammar and spelling, as this speaks volumes to professionalism. You need these items organized correctly in order for you to find a particular example or reference material quickly when asked for it in an interview.
