Write out the songwriter's name, beginning with the last name. Separate the last and first name with a comma. Place a period after each required piece of information, including the songwriter's name.
Add the date of copyright, surround it with parentheses and add a period after the final parenthesis.
Write the title of the song. Add the name of the recording artist if the artist differs from the songwriter. Place the recording artist's name in brackets. Do not place a period between the song title and the brackets.
Add the title of the album by writing "On" and then following that word with the italicized album title. Identify the recording medium next, whether it's cassette, CD or .mp3 file, and surround the medium with brackets. Do not place a period between the album title and the brackets.
Write the recording location, if available, and then add a colon and identify the recording label.
Research whether or not the recording date differs from the copyright date; if it does, add the recording date, surround it with parentheses and conclude the citation with a period.
Indent every line of your citation after the first line.
