Georgetown offers several MSN options, including family nurse practitioner, nurse educator and adult gerontologist. All options require an existing Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Classes are offered both full and part time and are offered almost completely online; each program requires an in-person intensive seminar that allows faculty to evaluate your skills. Classes last from 12 to 15 weeks, depending on your program. These programs are 44 credits and take about two years for part-time attendance and 18 months for the full-time option. Financial aid and scholarships are available to eligible students.
Loyola University New Orleans offers a Master of Science in Nursing which does require an existing BSN degree. Classes are delivered completely online, and the program is designed with the working professional nurse in mind, with only one class taken at a time. The degree requires 36 credits, classes last seven weeks on average, and most students complete the program in two years. The program does require an in-person practicum that can be taken locally, close to your home. Financial aid, scholarships and employer-matching funds are available to eligible students.
The University of Arizona offers a program that allows registered nurses with either an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree to obtain their MSN. Classes are offered three times per year and last about 15 weeks. Those nurses with an associate’s degree require 44 credits to complete the program, which takes two years. Nurses with a BSN can complete the program in 15 months. Classes are offered completely online with a required practicum you can complete in your local area. Financial aid is offered to eligible students.
Gonzaga University offers an online MSN for existing registered nurses who have either a BSN or an associate’s degree. Students can focus on one of four areas: family nurse practitioner, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, health systems leader or nurse educator. Classes are eight weeks long, with one required 2-day on-campus visit. A practicum is also required, and the student can find their own location close to home. Many students finish the program in four years, although there is an option for accelerated progress. Financial aid is available if you are eligible.
