Online Veterinary Schools

Several colleges and universities in the United States offer online veterinary technician programs that are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the independent organization that grants accreditation to the most professional veterinary schools. For working and nontraditional students unable to attend on-campus classes, online veterinary programs provide the ability to pursue an academic degree while maintaining outside responsibilities.
  1. Purdue University

    • Purdue University offers an online program in veterinary technology that is fully accredited by the AVMA. This program, which offers an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology, typically takes two years to complete for those able to enroll full time. Students are required to take online core academic courses in a number of veterinary technical and medical areas, including animal surgery and diagnostic procedures. Courses are delivered over an online platform that provides asynchronous (archived) lectures, giving students the flexibility to learn when it fits their schedules. Additionally, students are required to complete a clinical internship at a veterinary facility near their homes.
