Many nursery nurses opt to gain a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Studies to improve their chances of career progression and to earn a higher salary. A degree also allows nursery nurses to pursue specialist roles within the childcare sector, such as becoming a nursery manager or early years teacher.
In addition to their academic qualifications, nursery nurses must also complete practical training that involves working with children aged birth to seven. This training can be done on the job or through a course in childcare and education.
