Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Faculty of Medicine

• The Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Faculty of Medicine is unique in that it is one of only a small number of medical schools that is part of a technical institute instead of a university. The school believes this provides its students an advantage over university medical school students because they are doing clinicals sooner and longer, creating doctors that are more prepared to practice.

  The Rappaport Faculty was founded in 1969 in Haifa. In addition to its American Medical Student Program, it also has, in collaboration with the University of Haifa, an M.D./Ph.D. program, an M.D./Engineering program and an M.D./Law program.

Joyce and Irving Goldman Medical School for International Health

• The Joyce and Irving Goldman Medical School for International Health is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. It is a collaboration with Columbia University Medical Center in New York. What makes this medical school different is that it is located in the Negev Desert, which makes up about 60 percent of the total land of Israel. The Negev Desert is home to a unusual mixture of ethnicities with peoples from around the world. One of the larger groups there is the Bedouin Arabs, who are native to Israel.

  With this in mind, the Joyce and Irving Goldman Medical School for International Health joined forces with Clalit Health Services, the largest provider of health services in Israel, and the Soroka University Medical Center to create a mechanism to provide medical and health services to all of the inhabitants of the Negev.

• Hadassah Medical School is the home of the Institute for Medical Research Israel-Canada (IMRIC), which is known worldwide for the fundamental and applied biomedical research that the organization conducts.

  Hadassah Faculty of Medicine also has a School of Dental Medicine and a School of Veterinary Medicine.
