    • The Baylor College of Medicine, located in Houston,Texas, is one of the nation's elite institutions for medical training, ranking 17th in the 2009 "U.S.News" survey of the best medical schools. The school has over 3,000 students and $302 million in funding, according to Baylor College's website. It is a private institution that is affiliated with 8 teaching hospitals and is accredited by the American Medical Association.

    Texas A&M Heath Science Center College of Medicine

    • Texas A&M University's College of Medicine, founded in 1977, is located in College Station, Texas, and currently enrolls about 400 students. As of 2010, the school has trained over 1,400 doctors. The college has a faculty of over 1,300 teachers committed to producing caring and skilled physicians. It is also affiliated with several high-quality medical institutions in Texas, including Methodist Hospital in Houston and Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi.

    The University of Texas Medical School in Houston

    • The University of Texas Medical School in Houston was created by an act of the Texas Legislature in 1969 and enrolled its first class in 1970. Since that time, the school has granted degrees to over 5,000 students. According to the school's website, its mission is to provide excellent training for their students while also conducting outstanding research in the field of biomedicine. It also provides continuing education for practicing doctors.

    Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine

    • Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of medicine has four campuses in West Texas to better serve the people of the region. Since it opened in 1969, the school has trained over 3,000 physicians. Requirements for admission include 90 hours of undergraduate coursework, an undergraduate degree (although an exceptional student can be admitted without one), and a Medical College Admissions Test. Residents of Texas are given preference.
