San Bernardino County Vet Schools

San Bernardino County in Southern California is the largest county in the continental United States by area. Lakes, rivers, deserts, mountains, farms, ranches, dairies and tens of thousands of residences there are home to pets, livestock and wildlife. Veterinary professionals are thereby in demand. Fortunately, you can study veterinary medicine at the county's largest state university, two institutions just beyond county borders or even at home.
  1. Cal State San Bernardino

    • California State University, San Bernardino's College of Natural Sciences offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and curricula for pre-professional students in various disciplines, including veterinary medicine. With a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in biology from the county's largest state university, a graduate can pursue a career as an animal technician at a veterinary hospital. To become a veterinarian, the student can go on to get a master's in science on campus or elsewhere in pursuit of a Ph.D. The Department of Biology faculty helps set the path that best matches the individual student.

California Polytechnic University, or Cal Poly Pomona as it is more commonly known, has an Animal Science school that has produced a plethora of veterinary professionals, from agricultural commissioners to zookeepers to veterinarians. The Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is world famous. Cal Poly students study the whole animal, from cellular DNA on up. And they learn by doing on teaching farms with more animals on campus than any other college in the nation.
