How to Get a Nursing Degree With an OTH Discharge

Military personnel can receive a discharge from service for any type of adverse offense, such as violence against another officer or for a security violation. Depending on the circumstances, she will have her case heard by a military discharge board concerning the offense and be released from duty with an Other Than Honorable (OTH) discharge notation permanently on her service record. Because of this type of discharge, future employment can be difficult to find, especially employment in a government position. If she decides to enroll in college into a nursing field of study, she must follow specific guidelines in disclosing information regarding her military discharge.
