How many years of school do you have to complete become a medical assistant?

Most medical assistants complete a postsecondary program that takes about 1-2 years to finish. This could be a certificate program or an associate's degree. Some may choose to pursue a longer, more comprehensive program, but 1-2 years is the most common timeframe.
