What college course is needed to become a fire prevention officer in Ontario?

There is no college course required to become a Fire Prevention Officer in Ontario. Instead, candidates are required to complete the following:

- Grade 12 Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

- Technical Standards

- Ability to perform job tasks while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

- Ability to work at heights

- Ability to navigate in high-risk confined spaces

- Education and Training

- Post-Secondary Education in fire prevention

- Fire Prevention Officer Part 1 course

- Fire Prevention Officer Part 2 course

- Experience

- At least 2 years of fire prevention and investigation experience within the last 5 years

- Certifications

- NFPA 1031 Professional Qualifications Standard for Fire Inspector
