Founded in 1902, the University of Chicago is located near Hyde Park, just south of downtown Chicago. As of 2010, the law school was ranked 5th in the nation by the US News & World Report. Loyola University in Chicago is a private Jesuit university located in downtown Chicago. According to the US News & World Report survey in 2010, Loyola University in Chicago is ranked 87th in the nation. Some of the specialty majors include criminal law, contracts, legal writing and child and family law. Mock trials and moot courts are also a typical part of the curriculum. The school also has a student to faculty rate of 14.5 to 1.

Northwestern Law school was founded in 1859. Its prestige is well known throughout the United States, ranked by the Princeton Review as the top law school in the country in 2009. According to the US News & World Report in 2010, Northwestern was ranked 11th. Northwestern offers accelerated LLM and JD programs for those interested in accomplishing their degree as soon as possible. According to the website, the school is "committed to preparing its students to make the appropriate moral and ethical decisions as responsible citizens of a diverse society."
