There are 29 law schools in Australia that provide professional qualifications at several levels including undergraduate Bachelors of Laws degrees (LLB), and postgraduate Master of Laws (LLM) and Juris Doctor (JD) degrees. The postgraduate law schools teach the legal principles and how they are applied both locally and globally. Although every school is proficient in teaching and learning, there are three that are considered the best Law Schools in Australia according to the Australian Education Network Rankings.

    • The Australian National University College of Law (ANU) is ranked the number one law university in Australia and 17th in the world. It's located in Canberra, Acton amid all the parliament buildings, and was established in 1960 as the Faculty of Law. It is Australia's 7th oldest law school and is responsible for publications such as Federal Law Review and the Australian Year Book of International Law. It was established in 1855 and was the first law school in Sydney, Australia. Located in Camperdown, it is known for producing successful graduates who have assumed high legal positions such as Prime Ministers of Australia, President of the World Bank and Chief Justices of the High Court of Australia. It has a strong affiliation with the legal profession including barristers, judges and solicitors who give lectures in core legal subjects.     • The University of Melbourne is located in the University Square of Parkville in Melbourne, and is tied with the University of Sydney for second place, as well as tied for the world ranking at 36th place. It offers degree programs including the Melbourne JD, the Melbourne Law Masters, the Melbourne Law doctorates, the Melbourne LLB and a range of undergraduate law subjects for non-law students.
