    • The University of Virginia School of Law was ranked among the top 10 law schools in the country for 2010 by "U.S. News & World Report." It was founded in 1918 by Thomas Jefferson and is known to be one of the oldest and most prestigious legal institutions in America. Students pursuing the family law concentration must participate in two law clinics and take five seminars. The family law clinics are the Advocacy Clinic for the Elderly and the Child Advocacy Clinic. The seminars are Children and the Law; Aging and the Law; Colloquium: Marriage in Law, Culture and the Imagination; Health Care for Children: Law, Economics and Health Policy; and Mental Health, Juvenile Justice and Family Law. Courses offered in the program include estate planning, family law, trusts and estates and medical care for children.

    The University of Wisconsin

    • "U.S. News & World Report" ranked the University of Wisconsin Law School as one of the top 40 law schools in the country in 2010. The family law program at the university offers a clinical program called the Family Law Project that provides free legal service to incarcerated clients. The project gives students the opportunity to provide legal assistance to federal prison inmates while working under the supervision of the clinical faculty. The clinical work can be completed in two semesters by second- and third-year law students. Courses in the family law program include marital property law, adoption law and policy, domestic violence, poverty law, trusts and estates, comparative family law and juvenile justice administration.
