Northwestern offers an accounting certificate program through its School of Commerce. Completion of courses for the certificate includes 35 credit hours. The required courses consist of financial accounting, business law, computerized accounting, college mathematics, composition, professional development, spreadsheets and income taxes. According to the website, certificate programs "are most appropriate for individuals who wish to gain career skills in as short a time as possible without a degree."
