Take the required standardized tests. Wellesley College requires applicants to take either the SAT Reasoning test and two SAT Subject tests or the ACT with Writing. At the time you take the tests, you can request that your scores be sent to Wellesley.
Complete the Common Application, which is used by Wellesley and many other colleges to allow you to fill out only one application to apply to multiple schools. You'll need to include an essay with this application. Make sure to take the essay very seriously; it's the best chance you have of really showing off your personality and convincing the admissions staff that you're Wellesley material.
Figure out which decision plan you'd like to pursue. There are multiple decision plans offered by Wellesley; you need to choose the one that best fits your preferences. The most common plan is Regular Decision, which is the perfect option for students who are applying to multiple schools. If you're already in love with Wellesley and know for sure that you'll attend if accepted, you may want to choose Early Decision. If you aren't 100 percent sure, but would like to know your chances of acceptance, you can apply for Early Evaluation and be informed whether your chance of admission is likely, possible, or unlikely. Wellesley also offers an Accelerated Admission plan for high school juniors; students pursuing this plan will apply under the Regular Decision plan and must prove that they're advanced enough both personally and academically to compete with the rest of the Regular Decision candidates.
Submit the Wellesley Supplement, which requires you to declare your chosen decision plan and provide school contact information. The admissions staff is also interested in knowing more about who you are and what you're planning for your future, so you'll need to explain why you've chosen to apply to Wellesley College, how well you think you'll fit into the school's academic environment, and how attending Wellesley will help you achieve your goals.
Gather your credentials. You must submit two evaluations from teachers who've known you personally and are familiar with your learning style, as well as a secondary school report including your high school transcript and most recent grades. Early Decision candidates will need to submit first-quarter or first-trimester grades; Regular Decision applicants will need to have a school counselor submit midyear grades to Wellesley as soon as they're available. You can also submit optional credentials including arts and athletic supplements.
Wait to hear a decision from Wellesley. Provided that you're a good fit for the school with an exceptional academic record and have submitted a strong essay with your application and Wellesley Supplement, you should have a good chance of being accepted.
