Rio Salado Community College is the closest college to Gilbert, which is located just three miles south of campus. This fully-accredited college offers more than 50 certificates and associates degrees. Programs are offered in a wide variety of fields, including accounting, public administration, law enforcement and creative writing. Arizona State University's main campus is located just 20 minutes from Gilbert in Tempe. Over 51,000 students attend classes and participate in research-based studies at this sprawling campus. The colleges for liberal arts, engineering, business, design, and teacher education are all located on the Tempe campus. The graduate college is also located in Tempe for students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree. The ASU Sun Devils athletic facilities are located on campus, so students can easily come to games to support their school. Mesa Community College is located 15 miles north of Gilbert in the city of Mesa. Over 27,000 study at this school each year, many of whom participate in on-campus activities such as theater productions, clubs, student organizations and honors societies. The school also has six men's and women's team sports, including football, basketball and soccer. Mesa Community College offers 25 academic departments and over 150 programs of study. Both certificates and associate's degrees can be earned at this school. The Red Mountain campus in Mesa occupies 100 acres of the Sonoran Desert and offers technologically advanced classrooms with wireless Internet access.
