    • The College of Lake County is located in Grayslake, a suburb of Chicago. The school’s associate degree in nursing program enables participants to become registered nurses. Students focus on biology, pharmacology, and nursing in specific demographics, such as families, those with mental health issues, and cross-cultural patients.     • Kennedy-King College, another of Chicago’s city colleges, is an Illinois Department of Professional Regulations-approved career preparation program. The program is intended for those looking for employment as licensed practical nurses or registered nurses. After successful completion of the program, students can be employed by hospitals and clinics, nursing homes and assisted living centers, physicians' offices, and governmental agencies, in addition to being certified to provide in-home care.

    Joliet Junior College

    • There are two different associates degrees offered in the nursing department at Joliet Junior College in suburban Joliet: one for those wishing to become practical nurses and the other for those intending to become registered nurses. Students in both tracks learn in both a classroom environment and experientially at community health care facilities. Nurses in training study nutrition, pharmacology, and pediatric nursing.

    Malcolm X College

    • The nursing program at Malcolm X College prepares students for work in their chosen profession through supervised clinical learning experiences in varying fields, from gerontological nursing to maternal-child health. It is 70 credit hours, taken over the course of two years, and a competitive program, requiring program-specific admission in the second year of study.

    Moraine Valley Community College

    • Palos Hills’ Moraine Valley Community College is intended to provide preparation for a nursing career in a hospital or any other health care setting. The program consists of clinicals, labs, and lectures. Clinicals are on-site at a number of neighboring hospitals. After completing the program, graduates will be able to take preventative, diagnostic, rehabilitative, and therapeutic action in situations requiring medical attention.
