Clemson University in northwestern South Carolina is home to the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition which offers a number of graduate and undergraduate degrees in the food sciences. To earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, undergraduates are required to take science, nutrition and food science classes. Along with core classes in basic sciences -- biology, chemistry, physics and organic chemistry -- students take advanced nutrition classes, such as Food and Dairy Micronutrients and Nutrition and Metabolism. The Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition program requires core science classes, as well as a minimum of 21 credit hours of senior-level courses, including Human Nutrition, Medical Terminology, Food Composition and Food/Nutrition Cultural Perspectives.
