Admission to the sports business graduate program at George Washington University is based on previous work experience, undergraduate academic performance, recommendations and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores. Core program offerings include event management, sports finance, global sports governance and contract negotiation. The accelerated program is one of only a few sports MBA degree tracks that can be completed in less than 18 months. A 12-month classroom lecture series focused on related topics in economics, international business, sports market research and entrepreneurship is followed by a six-month internship at a sports business organization. SDSU's sports MBA program is the first of its kind to partner with a Major League Baseball franchise, the San Diego Padres.

Admission to the Florida Atlantic University sports MBA program requires a 3.0 undergraduate GPA, a GMAT score of 500 and an extensive personal essay. The program is grounded in an extensive regimen of graduate-level business coursework, including modern economic theory, financial data analysis and advanced accounting. "Sport Core" courses include sports marketing, law and sports venue management. A departmentally designed semester-long internship program is also required. FAU sports MBA graduates have continued on to major American sports organizations and sports programs at Division I colleges throughout the country.
