    • Located in Quebec, Concordia University offers masters of arts degrees in communications for students in media or cultural fields. The school offers research study in a variety of communications areas, such as political communications, technology, rhetoric, film production, media arts and development communications. Students have the option of three course loads with one ending in a thesis, a second ending in a final project and the third focusing on more course work in lieu of a thesis or project. The school houses film studios, television studios, film editing suites, dubbing studios and recording studios among its communications facilities.

    University of Ottawa

    • Students at the University of Ottawa have two masters programs to choose from: master of arts in communications and a master of communications. Both programs feature five areas of focus: organizational communication, health communication, media studies, government communication, and identity and diversity in communication. All students enrolled in the master of arts program must complete four classes and a successfully defend a thesis, while those pursuing a master of communications must complete six courses and submit a research paper. Students also may pursue graduate certificates in organizational communication or governmental communication. The university also features master programs in both English and French, the two official languages of Canada.

    Royal Roads University

    • The School of Communication and Culture at Royal Roads University in British Columbia features two graduate programs in communications, one that specializes in intercultural and international communication and a second in professional communication. The former option features two years of study with a three-week residency on campus and a three-week international residency. This program's graduates pursue a variety of international careers including journalism, public relations and marketing. The professional communication program, intended for media professionals, also features a three-week residency at the university and a curriculum that focuses on writing and technology in communications. The university, founded in 1995, caters primarily to working professionals.
