Barry University

• Barry University offers a Bachelor of Art in biomedical and forensic photography that includes 65 credit hours of courses in criminology, human anatomy, biology, photography, computer imaging and lighting techniques. The program includes a six-month internship at the Miami-Dade County medical examiner's office, where the student will get hands-on experience taking forensic photographs and preparing evidence. The degree program focuses on photography and trains students in digital and traditional mediums with seven-day-a-week access to photography facilities and laboratories. Founded in 1940, the school has more than 6,500 students enrolled.

Phoenix College

• The Phoenix College offers a certificate program in crime and accident scene photography that students can take independently or as part of the Associate of Applied Science in forensic technology degree curriculum. Students learn techniques for documenting accident, homicide, burglary and assault scenes, laboratory photography, preserving a crime scene and preparing for a court presentation. Phoenix College, the first in the Maricopa Community Colleges network, enrolls 30,000 students and offers more than 200 degree plans and career training programs. Students may take courses for the program at the Thomas Rd. and downtown campuses.

Texas Tech University

• The Institute for Forensic Science at Texas Tech University offers a Master of Science degree program in forensic science with a specialty as a forensic scientist or examiner. The curriculum includes blood spatter analysis, digital forensic photography and computer editing courses. Students must submit a 300- to 500-word letter of interest and resume for admission to the graduate program. Ideally, science majors have a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology or physics and examiners should have a degree in a behavioral or social science discipline. The Institute also offers forensic photography courses and workshops as part of its law enforcement training program.
