Science Online Experiments

A number of websites offer virtual online science experiments. The virtual experiments are a way to learn about different elements of the scientific world without having to leave the home or the classroom. There are online projects, experiments and games that can aid student learning in any scientific field.
  1. The Interactive Frog

    • A number of online applications take students on a guided and interactive tour of frog dissection. Students begin by learning about the different incisions used to open the frog, then move on to detailed lessons in frog anatomy and ecology. Some applications teach students about the various frog organs and show the processes of normal body functions. These applications include an in-depth look into the frog's nervous, cardiovascular and endocrine systems.

    Sheep Brain Dissections

    • An interactive guide developed by the website Exploratorium guides students through a sheep-brain dissection. It also describes the anatomy of a sheep brain, and compares a sheep brain with a human brain.

    Engaging Science

    • The Engaging Science website offers online games that help students learn about astronomy, biology and ecology. Led by Roly J. Robot, students can explore such topics as the moon's phases, conductivity, and an interactive wetland habitat. Each game is designed to explain various facets of science and offers students a hands-on, interactive lesson.

    Plant Parts

    • The Howard Hughes Medical Institute website offers a number of interactive experiments. One of them, an interactive plant parts guide, has students learn about the different parts of a plant by matching the plant parts with their names in an effort to make a virtual salad.
