Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) was founded in 1949, and is one of the first institutions to introduce new areas of specialization in engineering comprised of aeronautical, automobile, electronics and instrumentation technology for science graduates. Students enrolled in the aerospace program are eligible to enter flight training at the end of their program. In addition to pursuing technical studies, the aerospace program's research department provides areas of specialty in aerodynamics, and aircraft structures and propulsion. All off the programs at MIT provide both theoretical and practical training to prepare graduates for careers with some of the leading industries in manufacturing, business and information technology.
