For those with artistic interests and a passion for cars, automotive design is a career that incorporates these areas. Automotive design, or automotive graphic design, is the process of planning the exterior, color and trim, interior and graphic outlines of a vehicle. This process includes sketching, clay modeling, a scale model creation, powertrain engineering and the manufacturing process design of the vehicle. Computer aided design and computer modeling are also used in automotive design. This occupation requires a degree in industrial design, graphic design or transportation design and a background in art. These programs are offered within art, design or technology schools.

    The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur

    • The Art Institute consists of more than 40 education institutions within North America, with degrees in design, media arts, culinary arts and fashion. The Art Institute of Atlanta is the home to approximately 73% of the total student body, with students from more than 40 states and 25 countries, as of 2008. The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur is a branch of the Atlanta institute, with five stories and 115,000-square-feet of space for learning. It offers degrees in design, fashion, media arts and general education.
