California College of the Arts was founded in 1907 and has more than 1,700 students enrolled between the San Francisco and Oakland campuses. The university has more than 11,000 students, and members of its accomplished alumnae include Nobel Laureates and Tony, Emmy and Academy Award winners. The School of Design has state-of-the art facilities, which include the Robert Smillie Digital Imaging Lab, a work and research space for graphic design students. The school was founded in 1877 and has more than 2,000 students. There are 20 noted designers and critics who participate in the undergraduate and graduate graphic design programs as guest professors. The majors will cover aspects of design history, technology, practical skills and critical thinking. Students have access to 24-hour secure studio and lab facilities on-campus. The graduate program includes a partnership with Brown University that expands course offerings and learning opportunities.
