List of Universities in Aberdeen, Maryland

The city of Aberdeen was founded in 1852, and is now the largest municipality in Harford County, Maryland. With a population of more than 14,000, Aberdeen is part of the greater Baltimore-Towson Metropolis and Maryland Urban Area. Nicknamed the “Gateway to the Chesapeake Bay,” the city is home to Frito-Lay, Clorox, Pier 1 Imports, Saks Fifth Avenue and Rite Aid. The United States Army also maintains the Aberdeen Proving Ground to the southeast. In addition to the many public schools, several higher education facilities are located near the city.
  1. The Higher Education and Technology Center (HEAT)

    • The Higher Education and Conference Center at HEAT is located three miles from the Aberdeen city center. Harford Community College maintains the facility and coordinates its academic programs. Several universities have partnerships with the center, offering remote and distance learning classes. The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University, Towson University, Morgan State University, the University of Maryland and the University of Phoenix all host select classes at the facility.

    Harford Community College

    • Located roughly ten miles to the north west of the Aberdeen city center, the Harford Community College enrolls around 8,000 students. The college maintains 21 buildings on its 332-acre campus. In addition to occupational and professional certificates, Harford Community College confers associate degrees in a vast number of disciplines.

    Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) Army Education Center

    • The United States Army maintains an education center at the APG for service members and their dependents. Harford Community College, the University of Maryland, Central Michigan University, and the Florida Institute of Technology all maintain offices at the Army Education Center.
