Ohio University is located in the Athens area of southeastern Ohio. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department grants Bachelor of Science degrees in both electrical engineering and computer science, with concentrations in either sub-discipline. CWRU's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers degree programs in electrical engineering, systems and control engineering, computer engineering, and computer science. CWRU has placed some of its computer engineering students in very lucrative positions in the industry. For instance, Paul Buchheit, a 1998 graduate, was Google's 23rd employee. Craig Nueman, class of 1975, founded craigslist.com. Ohio high school computer engineering candidates can make themselves known to the CWRU faculty before they are even accepted to the college by participating in the department's Game Programming Challenge (CGPC 2010) for Ohio High School Students.

Cleveland State University's Fenn College of Engineering provides unique opportunities for both day and evening computer engineering students to study in the heart of Cleveland city center. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CSU offers B.S. degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and provides three paths toward a Master's Degree: electrical engineering, computer engineering and software engineering. CSU offers an accelerated 5 year program that leads to both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Engineering.
