Healthcare Administration Degree Programs

Health care administration degrees are designed to prepare graduates for careers in medical management. Also called health service administration degrees, these programs train students to lead, hire, schedule, negotiate salaries and make statements, budgets and vital decisions. Colleges across the U.S. offer on campus and on-line programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees as well as certification in health care and health service administration.
  1. Ferris State University

    • Ferris State University has a Bachelor of Science program in health care systems administration. Students interested in the program must first apply to and be accepted into the school. They must also have at least a 2.5 grade point average in their high school coursework. Once admitted to the college program, students will need to complete 121 to 124 semester hours of classes with at least a 2.0 grade point average. Program classes focus on accounting, management, quality assurance, marketing, health care finance, long-term care and health care planning.

    Seton Hall University

    • Seton Hall University offers a master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. A student interested in the MHA program should first complete a bachelor's degree. She will then need to submit three letters of recommendation, a resume and a professional essay to the university to be admitted. The program takes three years and 42 credit hours to complete. Courses include ethics in health care administration, managing community health systems and health care policy. Classes can be taken on campus or on-line and are offered afternoons, evenings and weekends. Seton Hall also offers a graduate certificate in Healthcare Administration which can be completed in less than a year. Students in the program will complete 15 credit hours in classes such as managerial decision making and health care economics.

    California College San Diego

    • California College San Diego has a Bachelors degree in health care administration. This program combines business and clinical instruction to prepare students for management jobs in the health care industry. Classes include principles of health and disease, and health care policy and economics. A student can complete this program in four years by following the traditional program curriculum or he can complete it in 30 months by taking the accelerated fast track plan. Interested students must fill out the school's on-line application and submit a high school diploma or GED along with all official transcripts.

    Davenport University

    • Davenport University has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a focus in health services administration. Students will need to complete 120 semester hours to graduate. Classes include corporate finance, health care laws and ethics, and quality assurance health care. Interested students need to submit an application and official transcripts to the school to be considered for admission into the program. Students who complete the program will be prepared for entry-level jobs in health care organization management.
