Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music offers opportunities for student musicians and sound artists with the Performer Diploma and Artist Diploma programs. These are designed for outstanding performers and musicians to have a concentration in the appropriate repertoire. This school has a competitive admission process, including a regular departmental performance audition equivalent to a "high Master of Music graduation-level" type of performance for the Performer Diploma Program, and a performance level equivalent to an acceptance into a major international competition for the Artist Diploma program. Qualified students enrolled in Performer Diploma programs may also apply for the Artist Diploma program.

The Artist Diploma in Music Performance at the Ball State University School of Music is a highly selective non-degree graduate program specializing in the training of gifted and accomplished performers. An applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.75 or better in the last two years of study. Apart from these academic requirements, the prospective student must present an audition demonstrating high level of performance ability equivalent to audition requirements as used in existing graduate degree programs. The program focuses on the practical aspects of music performance, including private instruction, solo performance, participation in music ensembles, chamber music and some non-performance supportive music courses to provide students with a solid foundation in the art of music.
