Human Resources Courses in Ontario

Human resources professionals are specialists who are responsible for hiring, firing, training and job satisfaction throughout an entire organization. To become a human resources professional, either a college diploma or a university degree is required. However, most human resources professionals have a college diploma as opposed to a university degree. There are several colleges across Ontario that offer human resources courses and training.
  1. Algonquin College

    • Located in Ottawa, Algonquin College offers students a three-year diploma program in business administration and human resources. In this program, students will learn about the laws that govern the workplace, industrial relations, training and development, management, planning, recruitment, occupational health and safety, and employee relations. Students must successfully complete a work-placement program to obtain their diplomas.

    Centennial College

    • Centennial College provides students with a three-year diploma program in business administration and human resources. Students have the option of participating in a co-op program, where they spend a full calendar year in a work placement, allowing them to gain experience and network before graduation. In the program, students must complete courses on accounting, management, employment law, compensation, recruitment, labor relations, occupational health and safety, planning and ethics.

    Confederation College

    • Located in Thunder Bay, Confederation College offers a two-year diploma program in business administration and human resources. To obtain entry into the program, students must have a high school diploma, or, if over the age of 19, successfully pass the Mature Student Test. In the program, students will study economics, bargaining, accounting, compensation, labor relations, occupational health and safety, business law, ethics and human rights.
