University Graduation Announcement Wording

Congratulations on your status as a soon-to-be college graduate. In between studying for final exams and making plans for post-graduation, you will also want to let your friends and family know that you've reached a significant milestone in your education by sending them graduation announcements. Before ordering or printing your own graduation announcements, you will need to decide exactly what you want your verse or wording to be.

Instructions

    • 1

Include the basic information. If you want people to attend your commencement ceremony, you will need to include the name of the school; the date, time and location of the ceremony; and what degree you will receive.

    • 2

Keep the language formal. Save the funny comments or cute turns of phrase for a separate reception invitation.

    • 3

Add any reception information to the formal announcement or as a separate invitation if there will be a reception or party in your honor. Include the time and place of the reception (including basic directions), and a telephone number or return card for guests to RSVP.

    • 4

Indicate your gift preference. If you do not wish to receive any graduation gifts from family and friends, you will need to say so on the announcement. Not mentioning gifts at all indicates your willingness to accept small tokens of congratulation from your loved ones.
